I’ve had a few requests for commissions, so I thought I’d put all the information about how I handle them in one place. If you’re interested in having me write a story for you, keep reading. You can find the current commission queue here.

How It Works

First, get in touch via email at kitmarlowewrites@gmail.com and we can talk about what you have in mind. I’ll need to know the type of content, the characters, the genre, and any other stipulations you have about what you want to see. If I feel confident that I can produce what you’re looking for, I’ll give you an estimated length and cost (more on that a little further down this page).

If you’re okay with the estimate then I’ll add your piece to the queue. I work through the queue in order, so if there are a few stories ahead of yours it may take a little time to get to you. Once you’re up I’ll let you know, and once you pay the initial deposit I’ll start writing your story. The current queue is always available to view here, and you're welcome to use that to keep an eye on the status of your commission. The tracker displays the current average waiting time based on recent commissions, so you can get an idea of how long the wait will be before you contact me.

When I’m about halfway through writing I’ll send you the first half to get your okay to continue. This will be a draft, so will be unedited, but you’ll be able to see how things are going and make sure you’re happy with how it’s developing. This is a good place to course-correct if there’s anything you’re not happy with.

All being well, I’ll finish writing and editing, and then I’ll let you know the final word count and remaining cost. After you pay the balance, I’ll send the finished story. If something isn’t right we can discuss it, and I’ll make up to one major revision.

You’ll have exclusive access to the story for a week, and then it will go on Patreon and everywhere else that I post a week later. If you want me to write something that I don’t post publicly we can discuss that, but that will be reflected in the commission price.

What I Write

I don’t write scat, snuff, or sexual content involving minors or animals. This is non-negotiable.

I’m comfortable writing basically everything else. If you’re commissioning me you’re probably familiar with my work already. I reserve the right to refuse any content as I see fit.

Prices

All my prices are in £GBP.

The base price for commissions is £200 for up to 8,000 words, plus £0.025 (2.5p) per word over 8,000, rounded down to the nearest 500 words. I ask for a deposit of £100 before work begins, with the remaining balance paid before the final product is sent.

I cap my prices at £400, which works out to 16,000 words. If I somehow go over that while I’m writing, you won’t pay more than my price cap.

Payment will be requested via PayPal.

Rights, Publishing, etc

I retain all rights to the work, including the right to publish and to be identified as the author of the work. You are not buying the right to publish the piece yourself, under my name or any other.

The commissioned piece will be published on my Patreon and on the other sites where I publish fiction, and you’ll be credited (and thanked!) as the commissioner under whatever name you like. If you’d prefer to be anonymous, that’s obviously fine.
